The patronal feast of the Cipollaro district in Ciampino, within the Castelli Romani area

The Cipollaro Festival is the most anticipated event of the year for the Cipollaro district, located in the southern part of the Ciampino municipality, just outside Rome and within the Castelli Romani area. Organized by the Circolo Polivalente Cipollaro on Via Cuneo, the event transforms the neighborhood streets every September into a vibrant hub of popular celebration, where generations gather to share music, great food, and tradition. In 2025, the festival celebrated its 42nd edition, cementing its status as one of the most deep-rooted neighborhood traditions in the Lazio region.
At the heart of the festival lies its religious significance: the Cipollaro community honors its patrons, the Madonna della Pace and Saint Luigi Gonzaga. The procession, a central and essential moment of the program, winds through the district streets accompanied by local residents, highlighting the deep bond between the festival and the neighborhood's identity. Surrounding this core of faith is a secular calendar packed with activities for all ages.
For four days, Via Cuneo comes alive with live concerts and musical groups, evenings of dancing in the square, Roman music, and ballroom orchestras. There is no shortage of food stalls featuring specialties from Lazio and Roman popular cuisine, markets, and, among the latest additions, the Cipollaro Beerfest. The program is rounded out by vintage car and motorcycle rallies in collaboration with the Vespa Club Ciampino, card tournaments, and sporting initiatives like the rugby open day.
The atmosphere is that of a classic neighborhood feast: simple, welcoming, and deeply communal, attracting not only Cipollaro residents but also visitors from the neighboring Castelli Romani towns.
Located just a few kilometers from Rome, Ciampino is primarily known for its airport, yet it preserves a vibrant and participatory fabric of popular traditions. The Cipollaro Festival perfectly embodies this spirit: an opportunity to discover the most authentic and convivial side of the territory, amidst popular devotion, music, and genuine flavors. For those visiting the Castelli Romani in September, it is an experience that allows you to witness firsthand the community spirit of a neighborhood that has proudly renewed its festival for over forty years.
The Cipollaro Festival returns to the Cipollaro district in Ciampino to renew the patronal feast dedicated to the Madonna della Pace and Saint Luigi Gonzaga. The event is traditionally held in the first days of September along Via Cuneo, featuring a procession, live music, food stalls, a funfair, and popular tournaments. This page will be updated as soon as the 2026 calendar and official program are published by the organizers.
