The theatre festival for children and families at the Auditorium Zona Santi in Trepuzzi
In Trepuzzi, a small town in the province of Lecce near the Salento capital, the Auditorium Zona Santi transforms each season into the home of Ci vuole un fiore – Family Theatre, a festival dedicated to children and their parents. The shows, scheduled for Sunday afternoons, are designed to introduce little ones to live theatre through fairy tales, poetic imagery, and languages that speak to all ages.
The festival is not an isolated event but part of the Teatri del Nord Salento project, promoted by Factory Compagnia Transadriatica in collaboration with the BlaBlaBla company and supported by the Ministry of Culture, the Puglia Region, and Puglia Culture. The project connects several towns in the area north of Lecce – including Trepuzzi, Novoli, Campi Salentina, Guagnano, and Leverano – to create a widespread, high-quality theatrical program capable of reaching even the smallest centres often far from major performance circuits.
The lineup alternates between local Salento companies and prominent names in national children's theatre, from Drammatico Vegetale to the Teatro delle Albe in Ravenna, as well as ZeroMeccanico Teatro and Kosmocomico Teatro. The shows range from reinterpretations of classic fairy tales to puppet theatre, from 'cartometraggio' – a technique that brings paper worlds to life – to stories that weave together distant cultures. Before each performance, the BlaBlaBla company often offers a free workshop for children, a playful way to enter the atmosphere of the show through manipulation, drawing, and storytelling.
All events take place at the Auditorium Zona Santi in Trepuzzi, generally on Sundays at 5:45 PM. Tickets are affordably priced (8 euros full price, 6 euros reduced) with discounts reserved for under-18s and residents of the network's municipalities. It is a precious opportunity for Salento families who wish to share the thrill of live theatre with their children in a welcoming, child-friendly environment.
The Trepuzzi events of the 2025/2026 season confirmed the festival's dedication to quality children's theatre, with two very different titles united by their ability to speak to children using original languages. From the poetic 'cartometraggio' of Sogno in scatola to the African reinterpretation of Little Red Riding Hood by Teatro delle Albe, the audience at the Auditorium Zona Santi was able to traverse paper worlds and fairy tales that become bridges between distant cultures. As is tradition, the shows were preceded by free workshops led by BlaBlaBla, as part of the Teatri del Nord Salento project supported by the Ministry of Culture and the Puglia Region.
Sogno in scatola — ZeroMeccanico Teatro (Gallipoli), with Francesco Cortese and Ottavia Perrone. A cartometraggio show for children aged 3 and up: two actors, a puppet, and 35 metres of paper bring a world of boxes, signs, and imagination to life.
Thioro. Un cappuccetto rosso senegalese — Teatro delle Albe (Ravenna), directed by Alessandro Argnani, with Simone Marzocchi, Fallou Diop, and Adama Gueye. For ages 5 and up: a reinterpretation of the famous fairy tale that moves the story from the European forest to the African savannah, where the wolf becomes Buky, a hyena. Fairy tales as living bridges between distant worlds, to tell stories of fear, courage, and growth.
