A Festival Born from the Sea

The Chioggia Fish Festival is one of the longest-running gastronomic festivals in the Veneto region: its first edition dates back to 1938. It takes place in the heart of Chioggia, on the famous Corso del Popolo, and celebrates the maritime identity of 'Little Venice', one of the most important fishing ports in the Adriatic and the Metropolitan City of Venice.

Traditional Specialties

The food stalls offer the signature dishes of Chioggia cuisine:

• Sarde in saor, the ancient sweet and sour recipe with onions, raisins, and pine nuts;
• Mixed fried fish with polenta;
• Bibarasse in cassopipa (clams in stew);
• Stewed cuttlefish with polenta;
• Grilled fresh Adriatic fish.

The festival is recognized among the '100 Wonders of Italy', a testament to its cultural and gastronomic value. For ten evenings, Corso del Popolo comes alive with aromas, voices, and tradition, offering visitors a journey into Chioggia's culinary heritage.
