When the days get shorter and the summer holidays are a distant memory, Jesolo welcomes autumn with the Chestnut Festival: for a few days, Piazza Mazzini, on the coast of the Venice province's seaside resort, transforms into a village dedicated to the queen of the season, the chestnut.
Flavors of the season
Among the stalls, the air is filled with the aroma of roasted chestnuts, fritters, sweets, and crêpes, all accompanied by new wine and prosecco, a local excellence of the Veneto region. There's also street food, with seasonal specialties and refreshment points, for a festival that puts good autumn food at the center stage.
Music, carousels, and fun
The Chestnut Festival is also a celebration for families: carousels for children and adults, live music, performances by local dance schools, and shows by local bands liven up the square from morning till night. An event that has become a fixture in Jesolo's autumn calendar, it's free and designed for all ages.
