The cherry festival of Ceresara, featuring tortelli, music, and outdoor dining on Via Roma
In Ceresara, a small municipality in the province of Mantua whose very name recalls the cherry tree, spring concludes with the Festa de la Saresa — the cherry festival in the local dialect. For five days, the historic center comes alive with aromas, flavors, and music, in an event that combines the territory's gastronomic tradition with the desire to be together.
The heart of the festival is Via Roma, which every evening from 7 PM transforms into a long pedestrian area set up with tables and stalls. Here you can taste typical cherry-based dishes, starting with the famous Tortelli della Possenta with cherry filling and the Torta Dolceresa, both products with Municipal Designation (De.Co.) that tell the identity of Ceresara. Piazza Matteotti, on the other hand, hosts concerts, DJ sets, and shows.
The Festa de la Saresa also features vintage car and motorcycle rallies, aperitifs on Vespas, charity walks, sports memorials, and moments of solidarity. A program designed to involve all ages, from children to motor enthusiasts, making this festival much more than just a gastronomic event. The event is organized by the Compagnia delle Torri in collaboration with the Municipality of Ceresara.
Included in the rich calendar of Alto Mantovano festivals, the Festa de la Saresa is the ideal opportunity to discover an authentic corner of the Po Valley, where food culture intertwines with the history of the town. Between a portion of tortelli and a concert in the square, the festival restores the slow and convivial rhythm of the province of Mantua.
The 2026 edition of the Festa de la Saresa will be held from May 29 to June 2 in the historic center of Ceresara. Every evening from 7 PM, Via Roma will transform into a long outdoor dining area with typical cherry-based dishes, while Piazza Matteotti will host the musical entertainment. The festival concludes on June 2, coinciding with Republic Day, with a program full of sporting, charity, and community initiatives.
