The historic floral exhibition of the Queen of the Adriatic
Cattolica in Bloom is one of the longest-running and most beloved floral exhibitions and markets on the Romagna Riviera. Every spring, for four days, the historic center of Cattolica—the famous "Queen of the Adriatic," in the heart of the province of Rimini, in Emilia-Romagna—dresses up for a festival and transforms into a large urban garden fragrant with flowers and plants.
The heart of the event is the long procession of stands set up along the streets and squares of the center. More than one hundred floriculturists, from every corner of the peninsula—from Piedmont to Sicily—exhibit and sell flowers, ornamental plants, rare and exotic species, urban green innovations, and everything needed for gardening. Strolling among the stalls is an experience for botany enthusiasts and families looking for colors, scents, and ideas for their balcony or garden.
The exhibition is not confined to a single square but is spread throughout the city's urban fabric, animating the streets of the center:
Alongside the flower market, Cattolica in Bloom offers a rich program of collateral events. The Palazzo del Turismo hosts exhibitions dedicated to photography and art, including floral mandala installations. For nature lovers, the guided walks "Fioriture della Valconca" (Valconca Blooms) lead to the discovery of the Conca River delta landscape, amidst spontaneous blooms and local biodiversity.
There is no shortage of festive spirit and creative challenge: the event includes a contest for the best stand designs, awarded for variety, color combinations, and aesthetics, as well as initiatives involving shops and restaurants in the center with themed window displays and dishes.
Cattolica in Bloom is a completely free event accessible to all, which attracts thousands of visitors to the Riviera every year, particularly around the late April and early May holiday. It's a perfect opportunity to combine a stroll among flowers and scents with the discovery of the center and seafront of one of the most famous seaside resorts on the Adriatic.
The 54th edition was held from Thursday, April 30 to Sunday, May 3, 2026. The inaugural ribbon-cutting ceremony took place on Thursday, April 30, at 10 AM in Piazza Roosevelt, in front of Palazzo Mancini.
Over one hundred floriculturists from all over Italy set up their stands along the streets of the center, offering flowers, ornamental plants, and special species like Anisodontea, Arctotis, and Jacaranda.
The Palazzo del Turismo hosted the collective photographic exhibition "Scatti da Cattolica nel Mondo" (Shots from Cattolica in the World) and the exhibition "Mandala in Fiore" (Mandala in Bloom). Two "Fioriture della Valconca" nature walks also debuted, on April 30 and May 1, starting at 9:30 AM from the Conca River Mouth.
The event included a contest for the best stand designs, with prizes of 1000, 500, and 300 euros, as well as initiatives for themed window displays and menus. Admission was completely free.
Exhibitions of floral-themed works in Via del Risorgimento and handmade crafts in Via Matteotti.
