Castrato Festival 2025

The 2025 edition of the Castrato Festival took place on Saturday, May 24, 2025, in Monteflavio, in the heart of the Lucretili Mountains in the province of Rome, with the usual double appointment for lunch and dinner in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele III.

On that occasion too, the organization was handled by the Pro Loco of Monteflavio, presided over by Pierluigi Giacomelli, who re-proposed the traditional menu: handmade gnocchi dressed with a long-simmered castrato sauce and charcoal-grilled castrato chops served with rustic side dishes, all accompanied by local wine.

The festival did not stop at the table: live music and traditional dances enlivened the square for the entire day, confirming the festival as one of the most attended spring events in the Sabine area and as a showcase for local pastoral cuisine.
