Fifteen hundred varieties of roses in bloom in the heart of Franciacorta
In the Municipality of Rovato, in the province of Brescia, in the heart of Franciacorta, lies one of Lombardy's most fascinating botanical treasures: Castello Quistini, an ancient residence with a garden that becomes the absolute protagonist every spring. When the roses bloom, the entire park transforms into a riot of colors and scents.
The garden houses over 1,500 varieties of roses, hydrangeas, perennials, and other botanical species, one of the most extraordinary collections of its kind. Among the stars are the famous David Austin English roses, chosen for their romantic shape and excellent adaptation to the Italian climate.
During the seasonal opening, tours are held on weekends and are personally led by Marco Mazza, one of the castle's owners and a rose enthusiast. He guides visitors on a journey titled "Among Roses, History, and Legend." The tour, lasting about an hour and a half to two hours, intertwines botanical descriptions with the stories and legends associated with the residence. On some occasions, creative workshops dedicated to watercolor, ceramics, and other techniques are also offered.
Castello Quistini is located in via Sopramura, in Rovato, one of the gateways to Franciacorta, a region famous for its wines and rolling hills. A visit to the rose garden is the perfect opportunity to discover this corner of the province of Brescia, combining the beauty of nature with Lombardy's historical heritage.
The historic gardens of Castello Quistini reopen to the public from May 1st, 2026, and are visitable on weekends until mid-June.
