The Easter Monday march in Montecchio Maggiore

La Castellana – La Marcia dei Castelli is one of the most beloved events on Easter Monday in Montecchio Maggiore, in the province of Vicenza. In 2026, the event celebrates its 20th edition, reaffirming itself as a classic of the Vicenza Easter Monday.

Two routes towards Romeo's Castle

The non-competitive march offers two routes, approximately 9 and 14 kilometers long, starting from the Polisportivo in via del Vigo and ending at Romeo's Castle (Castello della Villa), one of the two Scaliger manors that tradition links to the story of Romeo and Juliet. It's a scenic route through the hills and castles that overlook the town.

The festival at the castle

Upon arrival, the castle transforms into the stage for a popular festival: traditional cuisine, music, folklore, and inflatables for children liven up the day until evening. It's a convivial moment that combines light sport, nature, and community celebration.

Organization

Castellana is organized by the association Amici della Città di Montecchio (Friends of the City of Montecchio) with free admission, and is designed to involve walkers, families, and enthusiasts of all ages.
