The festival of paper and collecting in the Sabine village of Cantalupo in Sabina
Carta…lupo is an event that celebrates the world of paper in all its infinite artistic and cultural forms. Every year, for one day, the village of Cantalupo in Sabina, in the province of Rieti (Lazio), transforms into a vast space open to creativity, where books, newspapers, comics, photographs, postcards, stamps, and trading cards become the protagonists of a journey through culture, memory, and discovery.
The day unfolds across the historic center and the village squares, with a program rich in diverse thematic areas. Significant space is reserved for author meet-and-greets and literary presentations, while exhibitors—about twenty booksellers, artisans, and industry professionals—bring the village streets to life with stalls filled with books, prints, and collectibles.
Among the most popular attractions are the gaming area managed by the La Ludica association, designed for fans of pop culture and board games, and the trading space coordinated by the Poggio Mirteto scouts, dedicated to trading card collections, from Pokémon to football stickers. There is also a focus on the world of print media: one edition featured a special look at the situation of newsstands in the Rieti area, in collaboration with Sinagi Rieti and the newspaper Il Messaggero. Local schools participate actively with initiatives such as the Caviardage competition promoted with the Istituto Comprensivo Forum Novum.
Carta…lupo is designed to engage enthusiasts, families, and curious visitors of all ages. A food area remains open throughout the day, allowing visitors to enjoy the event until evening. The initiative is promoted by the Circolo Culturale Sabino «Elio Augusto Di Carlo», with the support of the Pro Loco and the patronage of the Municipality of Cantalupo in Sabina, highlighting paper as a tool for culture, communication, and creativity.
Nestled among the olive groves of Lower Sabina, Cantalupo in Sabina is a small town in the Rieti area known for its historic center and traditional olive oil production. The event is the perfect opportunity to discover the charm of this corner of Lazio, combining a passion for paper and collecting with the beauty of an authentic Sabine village.
On Sunday, May 17, 2026, Cantalupo in Sabina hosted the second edition of Carta…lupo, the festival dedicated to paper and collecting. The village came alive with about twenty exhibitors, including booksellers and artisans, author meet-and-greets, and literary presentations.
Great emphasis was placed on younger visitors with the gaming area managed by the La Ludica association and the sticker trading space coordinated by the Poggio Mirteto scouts. This edition featured a focus on the situation of newsstands in the Rieti area, in collaboration with Sinagi Rieti and Il Messaggero, while local schools participated with the Caviardage competition promoted with the Istituto Comprensivo Forum Novum. A food area served visitors until the evening.
Cantalupo in Sabina is located in Lower Sabina, in the province of Rieti.
