The Società Operaia Carnival party featuring masks, polenta, and charity
In the heart of the Antrona Valley, among the stone hamlets of the municipality of Montescheno (Verbano-Cusio-Ossola province, Piedmont), the Società Operaia opens its doors for its traditional Carnival evening. It is one of those moments that define winter in a small mountain village: everyone, young and old, gathers to laugh, dance, and share a warm meal during the coldest time of the year.
The unique feature of this edition is the meeting of two occasions: Carnival and Valentine's Day. Confetti and masks mingle with the romance of the lovers' holiday, in a format that combines the playful fun of Carnival tradition with the warmth of a romantic and community evening.
The heart of the evening is the traditional menu, designed to rediscover the authentic flavors of the valley. On the table, you will find polenta served with small sausages, gorgonzola, local cheese, and cream, traditional tripe, and to finish on a sweet note, the essential Carnival chiacchiere. For those who prefer to enjoy these specialties in the comfort of their own home, takeaway and home delivery services are available upon request.
After dinner, the party comes alive with the mask parade and the subsequent awards ceremony. In keeping with the Valentine's Day spirit, there is a special prize dedicated to the most original and beautiful couple of the evening, an extra opportunity to unleash your imagination with themed costumes.
Live music warms up the atmosphere, with special guests and a DJ set accompanying participants until late at night, turning the Società Operaia hall into a real dance floor.
The aspect that makes this event truly special is its charitable soul: the entire proceeds of the evening are donated to charity. Eating, dancing, and having fun thus become a small gesture of solidarity towards the local area, faithful to a tradition of mutual aid that has deep roots in Montescheno and the Ossola region. The event is organized by the Carnival Committee together with the Amici dell'Operaia and The Torbolist.

The evening began at 6:30 PM with the traditional menu: polenta with sausages, gorgonzola, local cheese, and cream, tripe, and Carnival chiacchiere, with takeaway and home delivery services available upon request. From 9:30 PM, the focus shifted to the mask parade and awards ceremony, including a special prize for the most original and beautiful couple. All proceeds were donated to charity.
