The Carnival of Monghidoro at the Faro

Carnevale al Faro is the Carnival event of Monghidoro, a small municipality in the Bolognese Apennines in the province of Bologna, in the heart of Emilia-Romagna. The festival takes place at the Faro venue, the town's former disco converted into a modern socio-cultural center and community meeting point, inaugurated in its new spaces at the end of 2024.

A festival designed for children

Heir to the town's traditional "Children's Carnival," the event is primarily dedicated to families and children. The afternoon is filled with masks and colorful costumes: many young participants liven up the hall with their disguises, often prepared with care and creativity by their parents. As the organizers remind us, masks are optional, but fun is mandatory.

What happens at the Faro

The program entertains young and old throughout the afternoon with a succession of activities:

• Face painting to transform children into fantastic characters;
• Magic shows, with a magician enchanting the audience;
• Karaoke open to all;
• Music and dancing to let loose on the dance floor;
• Snacks and sandwiches for a tasty break.

Who organizes it

Carnevale al Faro is the result of collaboration between the Monghidoro Merchants' Committee, the Municipality of Monghidoro, and the local Tourist Information Office (IAT), representing the associative and commercial fabric of a town that makes conviviality one of its distinctive features.

Monghidoro and the Bolognese Apennines

Located along the ancient Via Flaminia Militare, at over 800 meters above sea level amidst the Apennine woods, Monghidoro is a popular destination for its traditions, local gastronomy, and events that mark the year. Carnevale al Faro represents one of the most anticipated moments of the winter season, capable of bringing the community together and offering children a colorful and carefree celebration during the most playful time of the year.
