The children's carnival in Torre Pedrera, with allegorical floats, workshops, and themed shows
In the heart of winter, when the Rimini coastline experiences its quietest season, Torre Pedrera – the northernmost seaside resort in the Municipality of Rimini, in Emilia-Romagna – lights up with colors with Carnevalandia. It's the town's carnival, a celebration created for the little ones but capable of involving entire families, which for some years has become an anticipated event along the Romagna Riviera.
The center of the celebration is Piazza Alessandro Sacchini, which for an afternoon transforms into a large open-air stage. Each edition chooses a theme – a classic of fantasy or children's literature – that serves as a common thread for sets, costumes, entertainment, and floats. The town's streets are closed to traffic to allow children and adults to move safely among masks and characters.
The event focuses heavily on inclusion: among the recurring initiatives is the collaboration with the Italian Celiac Association (AIC) of Rimini, with a dedicated stand for gluten-free snacks and products, so that every child can enjoy the party.
Carnevalandia is organized by the Torre Pedrera Tourist Committee, the association that enlivens the life of the resort throughout the year. The event is part of the rich calendar of carnivals in the Province of Rimini and the Romagna coast, offering residents and out-of-season tourists an opportunity for simple, free, and family-friendly celebration. For those visiting the Riviera in winter, it's an authentic way to discover the more village-like and welcoming side of Torre Pedrera.
For its fourth edition, Carnevalandia chose The Wizard of Oz as its theme: Piazza Alessandro Sacchini, in Torre Pedrera, transformed into an enchanted world populated by characters from the famous story. An afternoon of celebration that, as reported by the local press, blended "tradition and innovation," focusing on people and theater, with participatory and creative experiences for all ages.
Theme of the edition: The Wizard of Oz. Town center streets closed to traffic for the entire duration of the festival.
