Parades of allegorical floats among the colorful houses of the island
The Burano Carnival enlivens one of the most fascinating islands in the Venice lagoon, famous for its colorful houses and lace tradition. Included in the calendar of the Venice Carnival โ Metropolitan City, it features parades of allegorical floats that cross the island in a popular festival atmosphere.
The parades take place in the evening along Via Galuppi, the island's main artery, reaching the church and Piazza Galuppi. Large floats and hundreds of masked figures create a colorful procession, the result of the organizational efforts of the Associazione Non Solo Carnevale, while the public finds moments of refreshment and conviviality.
Entertainment is enhanced by live music, circus shows, and clowns, with a particular focus on children. The evenings alternate afternoon entertainment for children and dance music in the square, in an atmosphere that unites all ages.
The Burano (VE) festival offers one of the most characteristic images of the Venetian Carnival, in Veneto: floats and masks parading among the colorful facades of the island, reachable by vaporetto across the northern lagoon.
The 2026 edition of the Burano Carnival took place on Sunday, February 15, and Tuesday, February 17, as part of the "Olympus โ The Origins of the Game" program of the Venice Carnival. Two large allegorical floats and a smaller one, accompanied by about 200 masked figures from the Associazione Non Solo Carnevale, were the protagonists.
The parades took place at night, starting at 8:30 PM along Via Galuppi to the church. Entertainment included music, circus shows, and clowns, with activities dedicated to children.
Two large floats and one small float with about 200 figures, organized by the Associazione Non Solo Carnevale. Free admission.
Burano is reachable by ACTV vaporetto (line 12) from Fondamente Nove or Punta Sabbioni, crossing the northern lagoon. The island is entirely pedestrian.
