Four days immersed in Celtic history on the banks of the Po
The Bundan Celtic Festival is one of the most beloved and attended Celtic events in Italy. Founded in 2005, it draws thousands of enthusiasts every mid-July to the floodplain park of Rocca Possente in Stellata, a hamlet of the Municipality of Bondeno, in the province of Ferrara, in Emilia-Romagna. The setting is remarkably evocative: the ancient star-shaped fortress overlooking the Po River, built around the year 1000 and enhanced by the Este family, serves as the backdrop for four days of music, history, and tradition.
For the duration of the festival, the park transforms into an authentic Celtic village, animated by historical re-enactment groups reconstructing daily life of the era. Visitors can wander through the encampments, witness demonstrations of ancient crafts, and try some activities firsthand:
The pulsating heart of Bundan is live music: every evening, the stage hosts Celtic, folk, and folk-rock bands from all over Italy and abroad, with concerts continuing late into the night. Surrounding this is a large themed market with artisans and stalls, while food stands offer traditional dishes and drinks, from quality ciders to mead and organic honey.
The festival is free: access to the entire area is by voluntary donation, a formula that helps support the organization and future editions. The event is designed for families and curious individuals of all ages, with workshops for children and activities spread throughout the day. To reach Stellata without parking problems, the Celtic Bus is available, a free shuttle from Bondeno station, complemented in the evenings by the Celtic Boat that sails up the Po River.
In 2026, the Bundan Celtic Festival celebrates its twentieth edition, scheduled from Thursday, July 16 to Sunday, July 19, in the floodplain park of Rocca Possente in Stellata, a hamlet of Bondeno (Ferrara). The formula that has made Bundan one of Italy's leading Celtic festivals is confirmed: four days of historical re-enactments, live music, themed market, and Celtic cuisine on the banks of the Po.
During the days, combat between warriors, archery, and axe throwing, demonstrations of ancient crafts, visitable encampments, and traveling storytelling will take place, while the evenings are dedicated to Celtic and folk music concerts. Admission remains free with voluntary donation, and the Celtic Bus shuttle connects Bondeno station to Stellata.
The twentieth edition unfolds over four days, from Thursday, July 16 to Sunday, July 19, 2026, following the established structure of the festival:
The detailed program with the lineup of musical groups and precise times will be announced by the organization in the weeks preceding the event on the official website bundan.com and social media channels. Pending official release, no artist names for 2026 are listed here.
