The premier jazz concert season at the Real Teatro Santa Cecilia in Palermo
Brass in Jazz is the signature concert season presented by the The Brass Group Foundation, one of Italy's longest-running and most prestigious jazz institutions, based in Palermo, Sicily. For over half a century, this Palermo-based institution has been dedicated to promoting jazz through concerts, educational programs, and original productions, making its winter season one of the most anticipated cultural events in the Sicilian capital.
The heart of the festival is the Real Teatro Santa Cecilia, an 18th-century gem in the Kalsa district, restored as a temple of Mediterranean jazz. Every week, from Thursday to Sunday, the venue fills with audiences eager to hear the Orchestra Jazz Siciliana, the Foundation's resident ensemble, joined by world-class soloists and vocalists. The program, spanning several months, alternates between orchestral productions, tributes to jazz masters, and original projects created specifically for the season.
Each edition features a series of thematic titles, each performed over multiple nights, totaling dozens of concerts. The common thread is the narrative of the "music of our time": from swing to soul, and from orchestral jazz to fusions with pop and Italian songwriting. Alongside the performances by the Orchestra Jazz Siciliana, the stage hosts exceptional guests, including Grammy-winning vocalists and some of the most sought-after instrumentalists on the international scene.
Supported by the Municipality of Palermo and regional institutions, Brass in Jazz is much more than just a festival: it is an educational and cultural hub that, under the recurring theme of "growing through music," engages young musicians, students, and enthusiasts alike. Attending a night during the season means experiencing a piece of Italian jazz history in one of the Mediterranean's most fascinating cities.
The 52nd concert season of the The Brass Group Foundation opened on November 6, 2025, with American singer Nicole Zuraitis, 2024 Grammy winner, and concluded on April 12, 2026. Comprising 14 titles for a total of 98 concerts, the performances took place weekly from Thursday to Sunday with a double evening show at the Real Teatro Santa Cecilia in Palermo.
Alongside the Orchestra Jazz Siciliana, international names took the stage: the Darius Brubeck Quartet in tribute to Dave Brubeck, Roy Paci in a world premiere, Jeremy Pelt, Peter Cincotti, Simona Molinari, Mario Venuti with his "Caduto dalle Stelle" project, the Funky Knuckles, as well as Kemuel Roig, Gunhild Carling, Myriam Phiro, LucÃa Gutiérrez, Lauren Henderson, and Angelo Debarre.
Individual tickets went on sale starting November 3, 2025, while season passes—which sold out quickly—were available from the autumn. Online sales via www.bluetickets.it and www.brassgroup.it, and at the theater and Spasimo box offices.
