About Boröle Festival

When autumn arrives, Casale di Albino — a hillside hamlet of Albino in Val Seriana — is perfumed with roasted chestnuts: these are the 'boröle', the 'caldarroste' (roasted chestnuts) cooked on a grill that give their name to this traditional chestnut festival. Organized by the Parish of the Sacred Heart together with the Gruppo Amici di Casale, the festival combines a typical Bergamo lunch with an afternoon of music, ballroom dancing, and homemade cakes. A simple and genuine event, where the families of the village and visitors gather around the fire and the table.

The boröle, queens of autumn

In Casale di Albino, a hamlet of the Municipality of Albino in the province of Bergamo, autumn brings an awaited festival: the Boröle Festival. The 'boröle', in local dialect, are chestnuts roasted on the grill — the 'caldarroste' — and this day of conviviality, which recalls the peasant identity of Val Seriana, revolves around this woodland fruit.

Lunch and afternoon together

The day begins with a typical lunch featuring 'scarpinocc' (the famous Bergamo ravioli), mixed grill, polenta, salami, and local cheeses. In the afternoon, the stars arrive: roasted 'boröle', accompanied by homemade cakes, a bar service, and lots of music, with ballroom and group dancing animating the village's sports field.

A community celebration

The festival is organized by the Parish of the Sacred Heart in collaboration with the Gruppo Amici di Casale, the same entities that animate the social life of the hamlet. It is a village festival in the most authentic sense: born to bring people together, raise funds for the community, and pass on the taste of autumn traditions of the Bergamo area.

Boröle Festival — edition 2026

The Boröle Festival is expected to return to Casale di Albino in October 2026, as per autumn tradition. The exact date has not yet been communicated by the organizers.

The 2026 edition of the Boröle Festival is expected in the usual autumn period, around the first half of October, following the tradition of the Casale di Albino chestnut festival animating the autumn Sundays of Val Seriana.

The program, once confirmed, will propose the tried-and-tested formula: typical Bergamo lunch at noon and an afternoon with roasted chestnuts, cakes, bar, and dance music. The precise date will be announced by the Parish of the Sacred Heart and the Gruppo Amici di Casale.
