When the village blossoms
Borgo in Fiore is the spring festival of Caminata, a small and charming hamlet in the Municipality of Alta Val Tidone, in the province of Piacenza. For one day, the entire hilly village transforms into a large, widespread garden: streets, alleys, small squares, and courtyards are adorned with colours thanks to floral displays and stalls of nursery gardeners and artisans, while the air fills with the scents of flowers, plants, and essences. The initiative, promoted by the Municipality of Alta Val Tidone, opens the season of summer events in the Val Tidone area.
Flowers, plants, and creativity
The heart of the event is the exhibition-market spread throughout the village streets: flowers, plants, spring products, artisan creations, wellness items, and garden decoration proposals. At the entrance to the village, a large floral carpet is created using floral decoration techniques, which frames the day. There are also creative workshops for adults and children, show cooking sessions dedicated to using flowers and herbs in cooking, and activities designed for families.
Street art, music, and theatre
Over the years, Borgo in Fiore has expanded its offerings beyond the floral theme, embracing street art, theatre, and live music. Artists animate the alleys and squares with itinerant music, theatrical performances, and murals created for the occasion, while an "open stage" hosts impromptu performances. The festival also involves the local community and schools in the area, who contribute with floral arrangements and decorations.
Among the hills of Val Tidone
The event is fully integrated into the identity of Val Tidone and Emilia-Romagna: a hilly territory of small villages, historic mills, nature, and tradition. Borgo in Fiore is the ideal opportunity to discover Caminata and its surroundings, combining a stroll through the flowery alleys with exploration of the surrounding landscape, among hills, vineyards, and ancient water mills. Borgo in Fiore — edition 2026
The fifth edition of Borgo in Fiore was held on Sunday, May 17, 2026, in the village of Caminata, a hamlet of Alta Val Tidone (PC). As highlighted by Mayor Franco Albertini, the event opened a summer season that includes over a hundred appointments in the area.
Throughout the day, the village transformed into a widespread garden: at the entrance, a large floral carpet created by Infioritalia with flowers from the Piacenza region, and along the streets, stalls of nursery gardeners and artisans offering flowers, plants, artistic creations, wellness products, and spring items. The 2026 edition also opened its doors to street art, with murals created on municipal spaces, and theatre, with a performance by the group Tubo Catodico and an "open stage" for impromptu performances.

Where
The event takes place in the village of Caminata, a hamlet of the Municipality of Alta Val Tidone (PC), along Via Vittorio Emanuele and in the streets of the historic centre.
How to get there
By car: Caminata can be reached from the Piacenza plain by going up the Val Tidone towards the hills. It takes about 45-50 minutes from Piacenza. As it is not served by a train station, arriving by car is the most convenient option.
