The night Agropoli celebrates its Blue Flag status
The Blue Night is the event through which the Municipality of Agropoli, in the province of Salerno, celebrates the Blue Flag status awarded each summer by the FEE (Foundation for Environmental Education) to its beaches and tourist harbor. It is neither a food festival nor a simple concert: it is a widespread civic celebration that turns the entire town center into a large pedestrian area animated by music, performances, and shops open until late at night.
In 2026, Agropoli secured its 27th Blue Flag for its beaches—Torre San Marco, Trentova, the public beach at the port, the San Marco seafront, and Licina—as well as its 14th in the tourist harbor category. A double recognition that the Municipality chooses to share with the city through this evening, which is open to everyone with free admission.
The focal point of the Blue Night is Piazza Vittorio Veneto, the city's main square, where the central stage is set up. This is the starting point for the musical program, which in recent editions has kicked off around 10:00 PM, turning the square into a disco under the stars with long sets dedicated to 70s and 80s revivals. However, the evening begins much earlier, usually at 8:30 PM, when the streets fill with families and visitors arriving from all over the Cilento region.
The entertainment is not confined to the main square. In previous editions, the festival has spread across several points in the center, each with its own offerings:
Shops and local businesses remain open until late: the Blue Night is also a shopping event, designed to boost local commerce during the peak of the tourist season.
The institutional highlight of the evening is the symbolic presentation of the Blue Flag to the owners of the beach clubs, which has taken place on the stage in Piazza Vittorio Veneto in the presence of Mayor Roberto Mutalipassi and the Councilor for Tourism, Roberto Apicella. This moment gives meaning to the entire event, highlighting the bond between water quality, the hard work of operators, and Agropoli's tourism-based economy.
Agropoli is one of the most popular coastal destinations in Campania: a town of just over twenty thousand inhabitants that multiplies in the summer, featuring a historic center perched around an Aragonese castle and a strategic position as the western gateway to the Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni National Park. The Blue Night is part of the municipal summer program Vivi Agropoli, which in 2026 brought major music and entertainment stars to the city, performing between the Arena del Mare at the port and the Akropolis Music Arena. Compared to those concerts, the Blue Night retains a different character: it is a festival for the residents—free, widespread, and the moment when the city truly shows its best side.
Those vacationing in Cilento will find the Blue Night the perfect opportunity to see Agropoli in the evening, when the heat fades and the center comes alive. It is an event suitable for all ages, with no tickets required, where music, the sea, and small-town life blend naturally. It is a great way for international visitors to experience what an authentic Italian summer city festival is really like.
The Vivi Agropoli 2026 summer calendar sets the Blue Night for Monday, August 17th, starting at 8:30 PM in Piazza Vittorio Veneto. The event is organized by the Tourism Department of the Municipality of Agropoli.
The 2026 edition follows an important May for the city: in Rome, at the CNR headquarters, Agropoli received its 27th Blue Flag for the beaches of Torre San Marco, Trentova, the public beach at the port, the San Marco seafront, and Licina, as well as its 14th for the tourist harbor. It is this double recognition that the evening celebrates.
The Blue Night is part of a particularly busy August in Agropoli, between the concerts at the Akropolis Music Arena and the shows at the Arena del Mare, but it remains the most popular and community-focused event on the schedule: free, outdoors, and open to all.
Piazza Vittorio Veneto and the town center of Agropoli (SA), Campania. Entertainment generally extends to Corso Garibaldi, Via Patella, Via Mazzini, Piazza delle Mercanzie, and Via Piave.

The center is closed to traffic during the event: it is recommended to leave your car in parking areas near the port or the San Marco seafront and continue on foot.
Admission is free for all activities during the evening.
