The neighborhood festival of the Madonna del Rosario on Viale Kennedy in Ciampino
The Blessed Virgin of the Rosary Festival is the most beloved event for the community of Folgarella, the district of Ciampino that gathers around the Beata Maria Vergine del Rosario Parish on Viale John Fitzgerald Kennedy. Born from popular devotion to the Madonna del Rosario, the festival combines religious observance with social celebration, attracting families, the faithful, and visitors from across the city and the nearby Castelli Romani, in the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, Lazio.
For the occasion, a long stretch of Viale Kennedy is closed to traffic and turned into a large open-air square. The program alternates liturgical moments with festive events: Holy Masses in the parish church, often presided over by guest priests and bishops, and the devotional heart of the event, the solemn procession that accompanies the image of the Blessed Virgin of the Rosary through the streets of the neighborhood, starting from the church square.
Alongside the religious dimension, the festival offers a rich calendar of entertainment designed for all ages. Highlights include:
The Beata Maria Vergine del Rosario Parish, established in 1973 in the Folgarella area, is now a spiritual and social landmark for Ciampino. The festival in honor of its patron saint represents the moment when the neighborhood rediscovers its identity: an occasion where Marian devotion becomes community, amidst festive lights, the aromas of the food stalls, and the music that enlivens the spring evenings. A free event open to all, perfect for discovering the most authentic and popular face of this corner of Lazio.
From May 8 to 10, 2026, the Folgarella district of Ciampino experienced its most anticipated festival. Viale Kennedy, closed to traffic, became a large community square for three days, animated by religious events and the festive program.
Alongside the Holy Masses and the procession with the image of the Madonna del Rosario, the public enjoyed a central stage with shows, music, and live events for all ages, as well as street food stalls, craft markets, and a children's area with games and family entertainment. The traditional church raffle was also confirmed, with tickets at €3 and the final draw held on stage on Sunday.
The festival spanned three days, from May 8 to 10, with daytime activities. Key program highlights:
