The festival dedicated to the prized black truffle of Roccafluvione, in the heart of Piceno
The Black Truffle Festival is a young but already established food and wine event held in Roccafluvione, a small municipality in the Province of Ascoli Piceno nestled in the hills and woods of the mountainous hinterland of the Marche region. Founded in 2025, the festival is entirely dedicated to the prized black truffle (Tuber melanosporum), an iconic product of this area of Piceno, particularly renowned for truffle harvesting.
Roccafluvione and the surrounding municipalities in the Fluvione valley boast a long tradition of truffle cultivation. The woods, clean air, and calcareous soils make this area of the Marche Apennines one of the ideal places for the growth of black truffles. The festival enhances this vocation by involving local truffle hunters, regional exhibitors, and restaurateurs from the area, who offer special truffle-based menus for the occasion.
The event spans three days packed with activities, with the Nero Palace serving as the headquarters for tastings and meetings. Among the experiences offered:
The Black Truffle Festival involves not only Roccafluvione: restaurants in nearby towns, such as Venarotta, Comunanza, Force, and Palmiano, also participate with dedicated gastronomic offerings, turning the entire district into a showcase for the black truffle of Piceno. Activities for children, animated by the mascot Truffolino, make the event suitable for families as well. Promoted by the Municipality of Roccafluvione with the support of the Marche Region and local institutions, the festival has already become part of the calendar of the national association Cittร del Tartufo, confirming the value of this Marche production.
