The free science outreach festival
Founded in 2003, BergamoScienza has grown to become one of the most anticipated events in the Italian scientific outreach scene. Organized by the BergamoScienza Association, the festival aims to make science accessible to everyone, from children to adults, using clear and engaging language. All events offer free admission.
The 24th edition revolves around the theme of Convergences. The underlying idea is that the complexity of current challenges cannot be addressed by a single discipline: BergamoScienza therefore chooses to inhabit the space where scientific, humanistic, and social knowledge intertwine, where different viewpoints meet in an open dialogue that puts facts at the centre.
The heart of the festival, from October 1st to 11th, offers a packed schedule of conferences with renowned scientists and communicators, interactive workshops, exhibitions, and shows. Mornings are dedicated to schools, while afternoons and evenings are open to the general public. The workshops, often run by students from local schools, are one of the event's hallmarks.
For eleven days, the centre of Bergamo, and particularly the Sentierone, transforms into a large space for shared knowledge. The festival animates theatres, halls, and squares in the Lombard capital, involving thousands of students and visitors. An opportunity to discover Bergamo in its most curious and participatory guise.
The edition is preceded, on the weekend of September 25th-27th, by the European Researchers' Night and "La Scuola in Piazza", a science fair spread along the Sentierone that involves thousands of students and teachers.
The 24th edition of BergamoScienza will be held from October 1st to 11th, 2026, with the theme Convergences. The programme includes approximately 31 conferences, 17 shows, and over 150 workshops, divided between evening events for the general public and mornings dedicated to schools.
The edition is anticipated, on the weekend of September 25th-27th, by the European Researchers' Night and "La Scuola in Piazza", the science fair along the Sentierone. All events are free admission, with booking required.
