A weekend of running between the Venetian Walls and the centre of Bergamo
Bergamo21 is much more than a running race: it's an opportunity to experience the Lombard city from a new perspective, running among the buildings of the centre and climbing towards the Città Alta, enclosed by the Venetian Walls recognised as a UNESCO heritage site. Organised by Runners Bergamo, the event has grown to become a national and international attraction for running enthusiasts.
The weekend opens on Saturday evening with the Bergamo Urban Night Trail, a 12.5 km route starting at 6 PM from Largo Gianandrea Gavazzeni. A true nocturnal exploration of Città Alta and the Venetian Walls at dusk, through staircases, cobbled streets, and evocative illuminated views.
Sunday is dedicated to road races: the first start, at 9 AM, is for the 10 km, also available in a non-competitive mode, followed at 9:40 AM by the 21.097 km half marathon, measured and certified by FIDAL. The course, fast and smooth, is ideal for both those seeking their best time and those who simply wish to experience Bergamo while running.
The 2026 edition promises to be a record-breaker in terms of participants, with thousands of athletes from numerous nations. The Orobic capital, in the Province of Bergamo, confirms itself as one of the most beloved destinations for Italian running, capable of combining the sporting challenge with the beauty of a unique historical heritage.
Bergamo21 2026 takes place on Saturday, February 7th, and Sunday, February 8th, in the centre of Bergamo and in the Città Alta. A record-breaking edition for the number of registered participants, increasingly international.
The programme includes the Urban Night Trail on Saturday evening and the road races (half marathon and 10 km) on Sunday morning, with starts and finishes in the heart of the city.
The races take place in the centre of Bergamo, with starts and finishes in the Sentierone and Città Alta areas, reachable on foot from the station. The city is served by the A4 motorway and Orio al Serio airport.
Registration for the competitive races (21.097 km and 10 km) closes on the preceding Friday. Bib and race pack collection takes place on Saturday at the Expo Village in Via Sentierone (mandatory on Saturday for residents of the city and province).
For the Urban Night Trail, dress in layers: Bergamo evenings in February are cold.
