The village festival welcoming the spring season in Caturano, Macerata Campania

Benvenuta Primavera... and its scents! is the spring event in Caturano, a hamlet of the municipality of Macerata Campania, located in the province of Caserta in the heart of the Campanian plain. For one weekend, Piazza della Libertà transforms into a lively social and cultural gathering place, where the community comes together outdoors to bid farewell to winter and welcome the return of longer, milder days.
The event was born from a simple idea: to restore the square to its natural role as a meeting place. The two days are dedicated to rediscovering the local territory, amidst vibrant colors and convivial atmospheres, in a format designed to be accessible to everyone—families with children, residents of the main town and neighboring hamlets, and visitors arriving from the Caserta area. The common thread is the awakening of nature: the scents of spring, already evoked by the event's title, become the key theme of a weekend dedicated to joy and community sharing.
The organization is entrusted to the San Marcello Martire Festival Committee, an association operating in Caturano under the patronage of the Municipality of Macerata Campania. The committee takes its name from the patron saint of the hamlet, San Marcello Martire, whose feast day represents the most anticipated moment of the year for the Caturano community. Alongside religious observances, the committee promotes civil and recreational initiatives throughout the year—from Carnival to seasonal festivals—carried out in collaboration with the parish and the oratory, which remain the two pillars of the neighborhood's social life.
Caturano is one of the two hamlets of Macerata Campania, along with Casalba: a municipality of just over ten thousand inhabitants located a few kilometers west of Caserta, in the lower Volturno valley. Macerata Campania is known throughout the region as the «town of the Pastellessa», an official designation adopted in 2012 in honor of the famous Battuglie di Pastellessa, the allegorical floats on which, every January 17th for the Feast of Sant'Antuono, over a thousand musicians beat barrels, vats, and scythes in a unique sonic ritual. In a town with such a strong popular identity, even minor events on the calendar—like Benvenuta Primavera—retain the authentic flavor of a community festival.
The choice of the square, the evening hours, and the open-air nature of the event make it suitable for audiences of all ages. Visitors from outside the area will find an easy and informal opportunity to get to know a hamlet that usually remains off the tourist circuit, just minutes from the Royal Palace of Caserta and the Belvedere of San Leucio, and to experience the daily atmosphere of a village on the Caserta plain.
The 2026 edition of Benvenuta Primavera... and its scents! took place over the weekend of Saturday, April 25th and Sunday, April 26th, 2026 in Caturano, a hamlet of Macerata Campania, in the province of Caserta. The heart of the event was Piazza della Libertà, transformed for two days into a meeting point for the community and visitors from neighboring towns.
The initiative, promoted by the San Marcello Martire Festival Committee with the patronage of the Municipality of Macerata Campania, was presented as an opportunity to celebrate the awakening of nature in a climate of joy and sharing, with two days dedicated to rediscovering the local area, designed especially for families.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition (times, shows, and activities) was not released online by the organizers: available information is limited to the dates of April 25th and 26th, 2026 and the venue, Piazza della Libertà in Caturano. For the complete calendar of initiatives, the reference remains the social media channels of the San Marcello Martire Festival Committee.
