Two days of the Middle Ages at Belgioioso Castle
Belgioioso Medieval is the historical re-enactment that every spring transforms the village of Belgioioso, in the province of Pavia, into an authentic medieval village. The heart of the event is the monumental Belgioioso Castle, a Visconti-Estense fortress that serves as the backdrop for two days of shows, games, and period atmospheres.
The re-enactment is spread throughout the entire village: jugglers, musicians, and dancers animate every corner, while a lively medieval market brings together artisans and ancient crafts. Among the most anticipated moments are the jousts between knights in armor, falconry demonstrations, medieval dances, and the evolutions of the flag wavers. The historical encampments become educational stations where you can discover the costumes, tools, and techniques of life and combat of the era.
Those who want to test their skills can try their hand at archery and axe throwing. The little ones will find historical games, a fun "dragon egg hunt," theater, and recreational activities with board and role-playing games. The themed food area offers gastronomic stands inspired by medieval cuisine.
Organized by the Order of the Guado di Sigerico together with Belgioioso Viva, the event is now a highly anticipated fixture in the spring calendar of the province of Pavia. Admission is free, making it an ideal destination for a day trip filled with history and entertainment.
The fourth edition of Belgioioso Medieval is held on Saturday, May 30, and Sunday, May 31, 2026, at Belgioioso Castle, in the province of Pavia. Two days of widespread historical re-enactment, with tournaments, shows, a medieval market, and activities for families. Admission is free.
