Five nights of craft beer, street food, and live music in the Salerno area

For years, the Beer Festival in Olevano sul Tusciano has been one of the most anticipated summer events in this corner of the province of Salerno, in Campania. This is not a trade-only brewing festival; it is a village feast in the truest sense of the word, born from the initiative of local associations and grown into a small evening village in the heart of August, where you can drink well, eat even better, and stay in the square until late at night.
The municipality of Olevano sul Tusciano sits on the lower slopes of the Picentini Mountains, a short distance from Battipaglia, Eboli, and the Piana del Sele: a location that makes it a convenient destination for those spending their holidays between the coast and the hinterland. Its hamlets—Ariano, Salitto, and Monticelli—mark a summer calendar packed with food festivals and celebrations, and the Beer Festival is the most crowded of them all.
The heart of the event is the craft brewery stands, featuring dozens of labels from all over Italy and a selection of foreign productions. During the festival nights, you can choose from easy-drinking blondes to ambers, from Weiss to IPAs, with the chance to get advice directly from the brewers present. It is a precious opportunity for the local public, who here encounter Campanian and national brewing realities that rarely reach the village bars.
Alongside the taps, the gastronomic area lines up the great classics of southern summer festivals and some more distinctive local dishes. Recent editions have featured:
Everything is served on long open-air tables: the convivial formula is an integral part of the experience, and it is not rare to see groups of friends and entire families occupying the same table for the whole evening.
Every evening, the stage hosts live concerts and DJ sets, with a lineup that alternates rock, pop, and traditional southern folk sounds. There is no shortage of cabaret shows and entertainment moments dedicated to children, making the event suitable for an audience of all ages. In the surrounding streets, you will find evening markets with handicrafts and local products, which extend the walk before or after dinner.
The custom of dedicating an August festival to beer in Olevano sul Tusciano has long roots: by the mid-2000s, the event already appeared in the town's summer program, with evenings hosted in Piazza Umberto I, in the Ariano hamlet, and with organization entrusted to local associations, including the Argo association and the San Giovanni Bosco oratory. Since then, the event has grown in size and duration, reaching the five nights of the most recent editions.
Those arriving for the festival can take the opportunity to discover a municipality that houses one of the most important cave sites in Southern Italy: the Grotta di San Michele Arcangelo, a Lombard sanctuary carved into the mountain, with early medieval frescoes and a unique architectural layout. The patron saint, San Michele Arcangelo, is celebrated on September 29th and ideally closes the long Olevano festive season. In the same weeks of August, the territory also offers other food and wine events, from the Fusillo Festival in Salitto to the "Calici in Borgo" tastings in the ancient village of Porta.
The Olevano sul Tusciano Beer Festival is the right choice for those looking for an authentic event, far from the major tourist kermesses of the coast: popular prices, a village atmosphere, good beer, and an audience that arrives from all the centers of the Piana del Sele. A simple and genuine way to experience the Salerno summer.
At the time of writing this sheet, no official communication regarding the dates of the 2026 edition of the Beer Festival in Olevano sul Tusciano, in the province of Salerno, has been published. The date indicated here is therefore purely indicative and only serves to place the event in its usual period, the first half of August.
In May 2026, the Municipality published a notice for the acquisition of sponsorships to support the "Olevano Summer 2026" summer events calendar, a sign that the season's planning is underway; however, the details of the appointments have not yet been released. We recommend checking the Municipality's institutional channels and the social pages of the Olevano associations to find out the dates, musical program, and participating breweries as soon as they are announced.
Olevano sul Tusciano is located in the hinterland of the province of Salerno, behind Battipaglia. By car, take the A2 del Mediterraneo motorway (Battipaglia exit) and continue inland for a few kilometers. The most convenient train station is Battipaglia, on the Salerno-Reggio Calabria line, connected to the town by local bus lines. The reference airport is Salerno-Costa d'Amalfi, followed by Naples-Capodichino.
As with most Campanian village festivals, access to the event area is generally free: you only pay for what you consume at the beer and food stands. For updated price lists, it is best to refer to the official organization channels in the days preceding the event.
The widest range of accommodation is found in Battipaglia and Eboli, a few minutes' drive away, or along the coast of the Piana del Sele; in the municipal territory and its hamlets, there is no shortage of small B&Bs and farmhouses.
