The 3vs3 street basketball tournament in the Ossola valley at the Badulerio court
Basket al Badu has become a staple of the Ossola summer: a 3vs3 street basketball tournament held outdoors on the Badulerio court in Domodossola, in the province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola (Piedmont). The event was born in 2013 from the idea of two friends who wanted to give the city a sporting event capable of combining a passion for basketball with a desire for community. Since then, the winning formula has remained unchanged, continuing to attract athletes, enthusiasts, and crowds from all over the Ossola valley.
The tournament is played on the court named after Alessio Spadazzi, a young man who grew up in the Domodossola basketball scene and passed away prematurely in 2017. Today, the Badulerio court is a landmark for youth basketball and local sports activities, and hosting Basket al Badu here makes every edition a meaningful moment of remembrance and community.
The event spans two days dedicated to different categories, with junior tournaments held on Saturday and senior tournaments taking center stage on Sunday. Alongside the matches, the three-point shooting contest is always one of the most anticipated challenges by the public, while a festive area comes to life around the court.
Basket al Badu is about more than just basketball: the event also offers music, street food, and a food & beverage area open throughout the event. It is the perfect opportunity to spend a weekend outdoors in Domodossola, surrounded by hoops, great food, and a convivial atmosphere, suitable for both players and those who simply want to watch and cheer. The organization is managed by Cestistica Domodossola, a historic local basketball institution.
For 2026, Basket al Badu reaches the milestone of its twelfth edition, scheduled for Saturday, June 20, and Sunday, June 21, 2026, at the Badulerio court in Domodossola. The event maintains its proven formula, capable of attracting athletes, fans, and spectators from all over the Ossola valley and beyond.
