Where classical music meets rock in the city of mosaics

The BaRock Festival is one of the most original cultural offerings in inland Sicily. Its very name is a play on words that defines its spirit: from baroque and classical music to rock, in a continuous dialogue between different repertoires and languages. The event takes place in Piazza Armerina, in the province of Enna, world-renowned for the Villa Romana del Casale and its extraordinary UNESCO-listed mosaics.
The festival was established in 2023 at the initiative of the Municipality of Piazza Armerina as a way to bring major musical names to the city and enliven the historic center with a widespread calendar of concerts. Within just a few editions, the festival has grown to involve dozens of artists and numerous city venues, becoming a highly anticipated event in the Sicilian spring.
The heart of the project lies in the fusion of genres. The program alternates between moments dedicated to classical music reinterpreted with a rock twist and sections featuring icons of Italian rock and pop. Recent editions have structured the lineup into two complementary parts: a "Side A" focused on collaborations between orchestras and rock, and a "Side B" dedicated to major stars of the rock and pop scene.
The artistic direction is led by violinist Davide Alogna and music manager Georgia Lo Faro. Over the years, the BaRock Festival stage has hosted internationally acclaimed orchestras and soloists, tribute bands, and well-known Italian artists, with tributes to legends such as Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, Queen, and Led Zeppelin.
Concerts are held in various squares and spaces throughout the historic center of Piazza Armerina, turning streets and courtyards into open-air stages. This decentralized format allows the public to experience the city in a new way, moving from one performance to another along a path that weaves together music, heritage, and the Sicilian atmosphere.
BaRock Festival performances are historically free of charge, designed to engage both residents and visitors. The event takes place between spring and early summer, the ideal time to discover Piazza Armerina and the surrounding Enna territory.
At the moment, the official dates and program for the 2026 edition of the BaRock Festival have not yet been announced.
