About Pea Festival

In May, Baone, at the foot of the Euganean Hills, dedicates a festival to its most beloved product: bisi, the peas grown in the sunny lands of the MAB UNESCO Reserve. Founded in 1999, the Festa dei Bisi transforms Piazza XXV Aprile into the 'Island of Taste', where peas become risottos and traditional Paduan dishes, accompanied by wines from the Euganean Hills Wine Bar, music, entertainment, and shelling competitions. One of the most characteristic spring festivals in the Padua area.

Peas, a symbol of Baone

The Pea Festival is the main event in Baone, a municipality in the province of Padua nestled at the foot of the Euganean Hills. The stars are the bisi, peas grown in the volcanic and sunny lands of the Hills — now a UNESCO MAB Biosphere Reserve — an ingredient in the most characteristic Paduan dish, 'risi e bisi'. Founded in 1999, the festival has grown to become an eagerly awaited event throughout the Euganean region.

The Island of Taste

The heart of the event is the Island of Taste, set up in Piazza XXV Aprile, where peas become the stars of risottos and traditional dishes. The format offers two options: the Biseria with self-service ordering and tray collection, and Fast-Bisi for quick takeaway dishes. The dishes are paired with wines from the Euganean Hills Wine Bar, in a food and wine experience that showcases local products.

Music, competitions, and tradition

In addition to gastronomy, the Pea Festival features live music, entertainment, cabaret, magic shows, and folkloric moments such as the pea shelling competitions for authorities and children, and the scarecrow contest. Organized by Pro Loco Baone APS together with the Bisi&Bisi Association of Euganean Hills producers, the festival is an authentic way to discover the flavors, medieval villages, and Venetian villas of this corner of the Padua region.

Pea Festival — edition 2026

The 28th Baone Pea Festival takes place from May 15 to 19, 2026, in Piazza XXV Aprile. A special edition commemorating the 800th anniversary of the death of Blessed Beatrice d'Este. At the Island of Taste, peas from the Euganean Hills are transformed into risottos and typical dishes, paired with wines from the Euganean Hills Wine Bar, live music, pea shelling competitions, a scarecrow contest, cabaret, and magic shows.

The 2026 edition of the Baone Pea Festival, the 28th, runs from May 15 to 19 in Piazza XXV Aprile. It's a special edition, celebrating the 800th anniversary of the death of Blessed Beatrice d'Este, an extraordinary female figure of the Middle Ages connected to these lands. At the Island of Taste, for the second year, peas from the Euganean Hills can be enjoyed in two formats: Biseria (self-service with tray collection) and Fast-Bisi (quick takeaway dishes), accompanied by wines from the Euganean Hills Wine Bar. Organized by Pro Loco Baone APS with the Bisi&Bisi Association.
