Autumn Dream – Colors, Flavors, and Notes of Ancient Castania is the event that brings light, taste, and music to the Old Town of Castell'Umberto, a town in the Nebrodi mountains in the province of Messina, Sicily. The event, conceived and organized by the Associazione Nova Aetas Giovani Castell'Umberto in collaboration with the Municipality, takes place in the ancient Castania olive mill, the historic former oil mill of the village, now restored and a symbol of Castania's identity.

The charm of ancient Castania

The ancient village of Castania stands along the Fitalia river valley, in a strategic position in the Nebrodi. Its history is rooted in the Middle Ages, when it served as a crossroads between Arab, Greek, Latin, and Norman cultures. Between the late 18th and early 19th centuries, earthquakes, landslides, and floods forced the inhabitants to move further downstream, leading to the birth of the current Castell'Umberto in 1865. The olive mill, active until the 1960s, is a living testament to the rural civilization linked to olive growing: hosting Autumn Dream here means restoring life and voice to this place of memory.

The evening program

The event offers a journey that weaves together different languages:

• Conference on gastronomic excellence and the development of the Nebrodi area, with a discussion on the territory's potential.
• Art exhibition featuring paintings and artistic performances.
• Tasting (by reservation) of wines and typical Nebrodi products, from artisanal cheeses to the flavors of local peasant tradition.
• Live music, with a band enlivening the evening until late at night.
