The public bib draw ceremony for the Women's Ski World Cup, held in the heart of Brunico
Every January, on the eve of the Women's Giant Slalom World Cup held on the famous Erta slope at Plan de Corones (Kronplatz), the historic center of Brunico/Bruneck in the Puster Valley comes alive for the public bib draw (Startnummernauslosung). The event takes place in Town Hall Square (Rathausplatz) and is the moment when the world's best skiers receive their starting numbers for the following day's race in front of a live audience.
Admission is free, and the event attracts thousands of fans. It is a unique opportunity to see the stars of the 'White Circus' up close in an informal and festive setting, far removed from the tension of the race course.
The ceremony unfolds over a few intense hours of entertainment:
The bib draw is the prelude to the Audi FIS Women's Giant Slalom World Cup, which takes place the following day on the Erta slope above San Vigilio di Marebbe, in the Plan de Corones ski area. It is one of the most demanding and spectacular tracks on the international circuit, a permanent fixture on the FIS calendar since 2017 following years of European Cup races. The Erta's roll of honor includes champions such as Mikaela Shiffrin, Federica Brignone, Lara Gut, and Sara Hector.
Located in the municipality of Brunico/Bruneck, in the Autonomous Province of Bolzano (Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol), the event blends top-tier sports with the vibrancy of a bilingual historic center nestled in the Dolomites. During the World Cup days, this Puster Valley town becomes a hub for fans, families, and winter tourists, offering a setting that weaves together competition, tradition, and mountain hospitality.
The evening of January 19, 2026, in Town Hall Square in Brunico kicked off the celebrations for the tenth edition of the Women's Alpine Ski World Cup at Plan de Corones.
