The cultural and musical festival of the Atella region in Frattaminore
Atellanamente is the summer festival that transforms Frattaminore, in the Metropolitan City of Naples, into a vibrant stage for music, theater, and art. The project, which began in August 2022, aims to revitalize the Atella territory from a cultural, social, and economic perspective, bringing the town's squares and streets back to the center of community life with free events open to everyone.
The festival is promoted by the Municipality of Frattaminore with the support of the Metropolitan City of Naples, which funded the program as part of its initiatives to enhance the Atella areaโthe ancient territory of the Oscan and Roman Atella from which the festival takes its name. The core idea is to make Frattaminore an attractive and lively hub that weaves together local identity, live performance, and tourism promotion.
The Atellanamente lineup is intentionally multidisciplinary: alongside major concerts, there is space for theatrical performances, impromptu art sessions, and moments dedicated to the folk traditions and gastronomy of Campania. The events are spread throughout the summer, from June and August through to the autumn season, enlivening the town's squares, streets, and public spaces.
The symbolic highlight of the festival is the free concert by Enzo Avitabile, the celebrated Neapolitan singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, accompanied by the Bottari di Portico di Caserta and the "Black Tarantella" show. The event takes place in the large market area on Via Sant'Arpino, where folk music, world music, and the ancestral rhythms of the tammorra and barrels attract thousands of people every year from the entire Naples and Caserta hinterland, often resulting in a sold-out venue.
With its recurring annual editions, Atellanamente has established itself as one of the most cherished cultural events in the northern province of Naples. Its free-entry formula and popular appeal make it a true community celebration, where Neapolitan tradition meets contemporary performance styles in the spirit of the most authentic Campania.
