Festival of theatre, cinema, and literature in Soliera
Arti Vive Best Off is the winter offshoot of Arti Vive Festival, the summer review that has animated the historic centre of Soliera, in the heart of the Bassa Modenese in Emilia-Romagna, for almost twenty years. Organized by Fondazione Campori together with the Municipality of Soliera, this edition marks the return of Best Off after five years: ten days of programming that bring back the lively and curious atmosphere that characterizes the summer festival during the colder months.
The heart of the event is the Nuovo Cinema Teatro Italia at via Garibaldi 80, but the festival extends to other cultural spaces in the city, from the Habitat to the hamlets of Limidi and Sozzigalli. The programme focuses on six theatre performances, complemented by special film screenings, in-depth literary encounters, and initiatives for young people and families.
The artists invited to the stageโfrom Oscar De Summa to the tardito/rendina company, from the Tony Clifton Circus to the dimitri/canessa duo, as well as Giulio Santolini and Stefano Cenciโshare a desire to experiment with forms and languages, alternating a focus on social issues and civil engagement with an exploration of the human soul.
While the summer Arti Vive Festival focuses on live music and major names on the international indie scene, Best Off chooses the intimate dimension of theatre, cinema, literature, and poetry. It is a review that highlights performances that have made the festival's history and offers local audiences and those from the entire province of Modena the chance to experience Italian experimental theatre in a warm and welcoming village theatre.
The 2026 edition of Arti Vive Best Off, organized by Fondazione Campori with the Municipality of Soliera and the support of Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Carpi, took place from March 20 to 30. Ten days that brought contemporary theatre back to Soliera, with six performances at the Nuovo Cinema Teatro Italia, screenings, and literary discussions. A programme that alternated surreal comedy with experimental dramaturgy, with a focus on social issues and civil engagement. The review also involved the Habitat and the hamlets of Limidi and Sozzigalli, with initiatives for young people and families.
Alongside the theatre programme, the festival featured film screenings, literary discussions, and initiatives for young people and families in various cultural spaces throughout the city.
Among the most anticipated moments were the opening concert-performance Stasera sono in vena by Oscar De Summa, the comedy of the Tony Clifton Circus with Il ritorno di Hula Doll, and the film screening on March 30 with the documentary about Banda Rulli Frulli.
