A city that becomes a stage

Art Tivoli is the performing arts festival that transforms Tivoli, just outside Rome, into a vast, open-air stage every summer. Promoted by the Municipality of Tivoli in collaboration with the Villae, FAI – Parco Villa Gregoriana, and supported by the Lazio Region, the event brings music, dance, and theater to the iconic landmarks of this historic city within the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital. The concept is simple yet powerful: using art to connect people while celebrating one of Italy's most extraordinary historical and archaeological heritages.

Exceptional settings

The strength of Art Tivoli lies in its venues. The performances take place in sites that are worth the trip in their own right: the Temple of Vesta overlooking the Aniene Valley, the monumental Sanctuary of Hercules Victor, the Amphitheater of Bleso, the central Piazza Campitelli, and the two UNESCO sites of Hadrian's Villa and Villa d'Este, with its famous fountains. Attending a concert at sunset amidst Roman ruins or Renaissance gardens is an experience that weaves together beauty, memory, and live performance.

A multidisciplinary program

The lineup spans diverse artistic languages: classical and chamber music concerts, dance galas, theatrical performances, and productions designed to engage with their surroundings, such as soundscapes inspired by the waters of Tivoli's fountains. Completing the program is Altisuoni, the section dedicated to singer-songwriters, folk, and female voices, which brings artists from the contemporary Italian scene to the city squares. The 2025 edition featured twelve live performances, a testament to an event now firmly established in the cultural calendar of the Lazio region.

Free admission, culture for everyone

One of the hallmarks of Art Tivoli is that it is free: all events are open to the public, with reservations required only for performances hosted in limited-capacity sites such as the Sanctuary of Hercules Victor, Hadrian's Villa, and Villa d'Este. This choice makes the festival a truly popular event, capable of attracting families, young people, and tourists alongside the most dedicated cultural enthusiasts.

Tivoli, between the Aniene river and UNESCO wonders

The festival is also the perfect opportunity to discover Tivoli: the city on the Aniene river guards two World Heritage sites, historic villas, waterfalls, and an ancient center rich with picturesque corners. On summer evenings, between one show and another, you can savor typical Lazio cuisine in the trattorias of the town center, completing a well-rounded cultural experience less than an hour from Rome.
