The Po River becomes a widespread stage between theatre, music, and performance
The Argini Festival - in full ARGINI - Shows along the river - is a widespread cultural project that in 2026 transforms the banks and embankments of the Po River into a large natural stage. Promoted by the Emilia-Romagna Region and curated by ATER Fondazione in collaboration with the Teatro Sociale di Gualtieri, the festival crosses the territories of the Bassa Reggiana and Parma for the first time before concluding in the province of Ferrara, with the final two stops in Goro and Mesola.
The Goro stop, scheduled for Saturday, September 19, 2026, brings a program to the heart of the Po Delta that intertwines theatre, music, dance, installations for small groups, DJ sets, interactive performances, and street entertainment, designed for an audience of all ages. Squares, riverbanks, ports, riverboats, museums, and villages become scenes of artistic action along the great river.
Goro is a small municipality in the Province of Ferrara, in Emilia-Romagna, overlooking the Sacca di Goro, one of the most evocative areas of the Po Delta Park. A town of fishermen and aquaculture, famous for its clams, Goro lives in close daily contact with water: choosing this village as a stage means returning to the spectator the deep connection between riverside communities and the Po River.
The Ferrara stops of the festival, Goro and Mesola, are curated in collaboration with Teatro Nucleo, a historic company of civil art theatre active in the Ferrara area. Among the artists announced for the overall program of the festival are names from the Italian theatre and music scene such as Andrea Pennacchi, Marco D'Agostin, Francesca Mannocchi, Piergiorgio Milano, and the ERJ Orchestra, as well as local companies.
What makes Argini special is not only its programming but also the way it interacts with the territory: shows in the square, street theatre, and family-friendly events in the villages, electro-folk sounds on riverboats, concerts in river museums, and DJ sets on the embankment. It is an invitation to discover the Bassa and the Po Delta through the lens of live art, in an experience that focuses on the landscape, slowness, and conviviality.
The Goro stop is scheduled for Saturday, September 19, 2026, and represents, together with Mesola, the concluding event of the ARGINI festival in the Ferrara area. Curated in collaboration with Teatro Nucleo, it brings a diverse program of shows in the square, street theatre, live music, dance, and performances for small groups along the Po River embankments, designed to engage an audience of all ages.
The detailed program for the Goro stop is under development. The organizers have announced that the lineup, common to the Ferrara stops of Goro and Mesola, will be completed with additional guests, and that ticket purchase methods for paid shows will be communicated starting from September 2026.
