The premier international regatta for vintage and classic yachts in Porto Santo Stefano
Argentario Sailing Week is one of the most anticipated events on the international classic sailing calendar. Each year, in the second half of June, the waters of the Argentario Promontory in the municipality of Monte Argentario (Grosseto province, Tuscany) welcome a fleet of vintage, classic, Spirit of Tradition, and Metric yachts for four days of some of the most spectacular racing in the Mediterranean.
The event is organized by the Yacht Club Santo Stefano, founded in 1960. Its roots trace back to 1992, when club members launched a regatta for classic boats called Silver Sails. The current format of Argentario Sailing Week was established in 1999 and has since grown into an essential stop on the traditional sailing circuit.
The event's beating heart is Porto Santo Stefano, the main town of Monte Argentario, where the boats are moored along the historic La Pilarella quay, just steps away from the village's restaurants and shops. Here, sport, art, and tradition intertwine, turning the port into an open-air stage where visitors can admire meticulously restored wooden hulls and sailing vessels that have shaped nautical history.
The promontory's geographical position, exposed to the Tyrrhenian winds, offers some of the best sailing conditions in Tuscany; the breeze, which is particularly steady in late June, makes the races both challenging and breathtaking.
Argentario Sailing Week welcomes yachts divided into several historic categories:
These are often joined by Big Boats, IOR, and Cruiser categories, depending on the fleet registered each year.
Argentario Sailing Week is also a major social event that celebrates the local area. Alongside the sea trials, the program features dinners showcasing Italian cuisine, live music, and social evenings for crews and guests, as well as exclusive events held at some of the most iconic locations on the Argentario. It is a unique opportunity to experience the charm of Monte Argentario and the Tuscan coast, blending maritime tradition, hospitality, and stunning landscapes.
2026 marks the 25th edition of Argentario Sailing Week, which for the occasion takes the name Argentario Sailing Week - Miramis Trophy, thanks to the collaboration with the new title sponsor, Miramis. Approximately 50 vessels are registered, including vintage, classic, Spirit of Tradition, and Metric yachts, with owners and crews arriving from all over the world.
The silver anniversary edition combines the charm of classic sailing with art, entertainment, and tradition, turning Porto Santo Stefano into an open-air stage where sport and culture intertwine. Among the most anticipated events are the arrival of the Palinuro, the Italian Navy's training ship, moored at the Garibaldi quay, and the return of legendary vintage yachts.
Among the special guests for this edition, the legendary schooner Cambria returns to the Yacht Club Santo Stefano. The detailed day-by-day program is published on the official website and the Yacht Club Santo Stefano channels.
Porto Santo Stefano can be reached by car via the SS1 Aurelia road (exit Albinia/Monte Argentario), then following signs for the promontory. By train, the reference station is Orbetello-Monte Argentario, which is connected to the port by bus. The nearest airport is Rome Fiumicino, about a two-hour drive away.
The boats are moored and visible along the La Pilarella quay in the center of Porto Santo Stefano. The races take place in the stretch of sea directly in front of the promontory.
The Argentario area is very popular during the event: we recommend booking accommodation in Porto Santo Stefano, Porto Ercole, or Orbetello well in advance. For information on registration and the program, please contact the Yacht Club Santo Stefano regatta office.
