Aprilia in Fiore is the annual mid-June appointment where the city of Aprilia, located in the province of Latina and the Pontine Lazio region, transforms into a grand open-air art gallery. Thousands of petals, seeds, leaves, and plant materials are arranged on the ground by master floral artists and volunteers to create a long floral carpet that weaves together geometries, symbols, and figures. It is one of the most renowned flower festivals in Lazio, heir to a tradition that has made Aprilia famous well beyond regional borders.

The city of the Guinness World Record

Aprilia made history in the world of floral art in 2016, when its city flower festival earned a Guinness World Record for the largest petal carpet ever created: an expanse of over 3,700 square meters laid out by approximately one thousand volunteers from local associations, neighborhood committees, parishes, and city communities, including the local Sikh community. From that collective effort, a permanent event was born that, edition after edition, continues to involve the entire fabric of the city's associations.

The 2026 edition: ten years of blooms

The tenth edition, held in mid-June 2026, was particularly symbolic: it celebrated both the tenth anniversary of the Guinness World Record and the 90th anniversary of the founding of Aprilia, one of the 'new towns' of the Agro Pontino. At the heart of the festival, a large rose window was created, dedicated to the city's ninetieth anniversary, featuring the symbol of the five swallows from the city banner joined in flight, surrounded by eight fan-shaped compositions. A floral banner bore a message dedicated to the community: ninety years of a city built by people and animated by its associations.

A community celebration

What makes Aprilia in Fiore special is not just the beauty of the carpets, but the process that generates them: dozens of local associations work side-by-side for days, from the gathering and sorting of flowers to the nocturnal laying of the compositions. Pro Loco, cultural groups, clubs, religious communities, and ordinary citizens share a collective commitment that makes the flower festival a true rite of social cohesion, coordinated by the Associazione Infiorata Città di Aprilia and included in the national Infioritalia circuit.
