About Anima Verde

Anima Verde Festival is Rome's premier event dedicated to nature, creative craftsmanship, and holistic wellness, hosted within the Città dell'Altra Economia in the Testaccio district, inside the former Mattatoio complex. From 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with free admission, visitors can explore artisan stalls, sustainable products, and wellness services, alongside seminars, children's workshops, tastings, and the 'Mandala Day Sensi' sensory area. A family-friendly and accessible gathering in the heart of Rome.

A green day in the heart of Testaccio

Anima Verde Festival is one of the most recognizable events on the Roman calendar dedicated to nature, craftsmanship, and well-being. It takes place at the Città dell'Altra Economia, on Largo Dino Frisullo, within the former Mattatoio of Testaccio, one of the most iconic locations in Rome and the Lazio region. The historic iron and brick pavilions, restored and returned to the city, provide the perfect backdrop for an event focused on sustainable economy, conscious consumption, and connections between small-scale producers.

What to expect

The festival brings together artisans and creatives of all kinds, wellness practitioners, green and sustainable producers, and vintage and second-hand goods. It is a market, but also much more: a space where shopping becomes an opportunity to meet the people who handcraft their creations. The association behind the event aims to foster the growth of craftsmanship and small producers, building a collaborative network among all industry operators.

  • Artistic and original creations, handmade decorations, and fashion accessories
  • Natural body care products, remedies, and green cosmetics
  • Vintage clothing, upcycled items, and swap parties
  • Street food area and refreshment points

Seminars and wellness practices

The 'holistic' heart of the event is the indoor seminar room, with a schedule that is updated for every edition. Past sessions have included Nature Therapy, Vedic numerology, olfactory journeys, inner power circles, mantra circles with meditative music, tea and herbal tea tastings, and channeling sessions. Many practices require booking due to limited space, and it is recommended to bring a mat for floor-based activities.

Mandala Day Sensi and children's activities

One of the most popular sections is the 'Mandala Day Sensi' area, a path designed to stimulate all five senses through tastings, acoustic and visual experiences, and creative workshops. A dedicated artistic area is reserved for children, featuring painting, drawing, and crafting: a simple way to stimulate their imagination while families browse the stalls.

A collective project

Anima Verde was born and continues to grow thanks to the collaboration between local entities: the Città dell'Altra Economia, Roma Open Lab Aps, Caffè Boario, and various Roman cultural associations. The organization also hosts the Anima Verde Market throughout the year, a Sunday event with the same philosophy, allowing the public to reconnect with exhibitors across the seasons.

Why it's worth visiting

It is a free, relaxed event suitable for all ages, perfect for a different kind of Sunday in Rome. Visitors coming from out of town can combine their trip with a visit to the historic Testaccio market, the Monte dei Cocci, and the Pyramid of Cestius, all just a few minutes' walk away. The atmosphere is that of a small community: you can chat with artisans, try a relaxation practice, and take home something handmade.

Anima Verde — edition 2026

The 2026 winter edition of Anima Verde Festival took place on Sunday, January 25, at the Città dell'Altra Economia, on Largo Dino Frisullo, in the former Mattatoio complex of Testaccio. From 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with free admission, the Roman public enjoyed artisan stalls, wellness practitioners, sustainable products, a street food area, and a rich schedule of seminars, alongside the 'Mandala Day Sensi' sensory area and artistic workshops for children.

The 'Mandala Day Sensi' area offered a path stimulating all five senses through tastings, acoustic and visual experiences, and creative workshops, while children enjoyed an artistic area with painting, drawing, and crafting activities.
