About Angel Fair

The Angel Fair is the historic Easter fair of Borgonovo Val Tidone, in the heart of Val Tidone in the province of Piacenza. Every year, between Easter Sunday and Easter Monday, over 300 stalls fill the streets of the historic center with typical products, Piacenza cured meats, and the famous chisola, while the Rocca's moat hosts the Biodiversity Review with horses, cattle, and farmyard animals. A funfair, food stalls, and vintage agricultural machinery complete a festival awaited by tens of thousands of visitors.

An Easter tradition in the heart of Val Tidone

The Angel Fair is the most anticipated event of the year in Borgonovo Val Tidone, a municipality of about 8,000 inhabitants nestled in the Val Tidone, in the province of Piacenza, in the heart of Emilia-Romagna. Its name refers to Easter Monday, the highlight of an event that takes place between Easter Sunday and the following day, when the historic center transforms into a large open-air market.

Over 300 stalls in the historic center

The beating heart of the fair are the over 300 stalls that animate the central streets of the town: traveling vendors, exhibitors, hobbyists, and craft and organic markets are alongside a rich food and wine review. Among the stalls, you'll find typical products from the Piacenza area, from the renowned cured meats to the chisola, the traditional local focaccia. Tens of thousands of visitors come not only from the Piacenza area but also from the Oltrepò Pavese and neighboring provinces.

The Biodiversity Review

In the evocative moat of the municipal Rocca, the Biodiversity Review comes to life, a livestock exhibition that in 2026 will reach its third edition and is organized with ARAER (Regional Breeders Association of Emilia-Romagna) and Coldiretti Piacenza. In the moat, you can see:

  • 6 breeds of horses (about 130 head), including the Romagnolo donkey
  • 7 breeds of cattle, for milk and meat
  • 4 breeds of sheep and goats
  • 10 registered breeds of rabbits, for about 70 subjects
  • about 30 poultry specimens

Accompanying this are the equestrian show repeated several times throughout the day, the 'saddle baptism' dedicated to children, and the fun 'Guess the Weight' contest, with prizes offered by local companies.

Funfair, agricultural machinery, and local flavors

The festival is completed by a large funfair spread across the squares traditionally reserved for rides, food stalls, an area dedicated to vintage tractors and agricultural machinery – a tribute to the area's strong connection with the rural world – and offerings from the parish, schools, and local associations. A pagoda hosts free tastings of typical Val Tidone products, starting with wines from the Cantina Sociale Valtidone.

An event that combines tradition and innovation

Promoted by the Municipality of Borgonovo Val Tidone, the Angel Fair combines its popular dimension with moments of reflection: the 2026 edition opened with a conference dedicated to sustainability, energy, and efficiency in the agricultural sector, hosted in the Rocca Auditorium. A balance between peasant memory and a look to the future that makes this fair a symbol of the Val Tidone identity.
