Ancient Flavours Festival 2025

On August 24th and 25th, 2025, Vignacastrisi hosted two evenings dedicated to taste and heritage, in the spirit of a resilient Salento. The event, promoted by the Pro Loco Ippocampo of Ortelle, revived the tradition of the old Meat and Piperussi Festival, with horse meat, roasted peppers, and local peasant dishes prepared directly by the village's families and associations.

Accompanying the food stalls, Salento music enlivened the evenings, transforming the small village into a party open to residents and visitors alike. An edition that confirmed the identity and community value of the event.

2025 Program

The festival spanned two evenings, August 24th and 25th, featuring:

• Food stalls with horse meat, roasted peppers (piperussi), and traditional Salento peasant dishes, prepared by local families and associations
• Salento folk music providing the soundtrack for the evenings
• Moments of conviviality and village celebration through the streets of Vignacastrisi
