About Festival of San Lorenzo

For almost a century, in August Pescantina celebrates its patron saint San Lorenzo with its oldest festival: five days of food stalls set up on the Adige bridge, exhibitions, concerts, and shows that liven up Piazza degli Alpini and the town center. The most exciting moment is the evening of August 10th, the day of San Lorenzo, with a solemn mass, a bell concert, and a fireworks display that illuminates the Adige, in one of the most cherished festivals in the Veronese Valpolicella.

Pescantina's Oldest Patronal Festival

The Ancient Festival of San Lorenzo is the patronal festival of Pescantina, in the province of Verona, and one of the longest-running festivals in the area: in 2025 it reached its 89th edition. It takes place in August, around the 10th, the day of San Lorenzo, and enlivens Piazza degli Alpini and the town center for five days with food, exhibitions, music, and shows.

Food Stalls on the Adige Bridge

Characteristic of the festival are the food stalls set up on the Adige bridge connecting Pescantina to Bussolengo, where traditional first courses and creative dishes featuring peaches, the symbol fruit of the area, are served. Piazza degli Alpini hosts the Luna Park, artisan markets, and musical evenings with tribute bands and DJ sets for younger audiences.

August 10th, the Heart of the Festival

The most anticipated moment is the evening of August 10th, the feast day of San Lorenzo: at 11 am the solemn mass, at 8 pm the evocative bell concert, and to close, the fireworks display that at 11:30 pm illuminates the waters of the Adige. A finale that attracts thousands of people to the riverbanks every year.

Pescantina and the Valpolicella

Pescantina is located along the Adige river, at the entrance to the Valpolicella region, land of Amarone and great Veronese wines. The Festival of San Lorenzo, deeply linked to the identity of the town, is an opportunity to experience the conviviality of a historic Veronese patronal festival in the heart of summer.
