The historic fair of Villafranca, since 1714 in honor of the patron saints
The Ancient Fair of Saints Peter and Paul is one of the oldest traditions in Villafranca di Verona, in the province of Verona. Founded in 1714 in honor of the patron saints Peter and Paul, celebrated on June 29th, it has grown over the centuries, transforming from an original livestock market into a grand festival of artisanal products, gastronomy, and entertainment.
The heart of the fair are the food and wine stalls featuring local products from the Verona area, set up along Corso Vittorio Emanuele II. Among the featured specialties are the sfogliatine di Villafranca, tortellini di Valeggio, gnocchi, and riso all'isolana, also presented in culinary demonstrations. The fair enlivens the historic center for several days with a widespread festive atmosphere.
The program includes concerts, dance shows, orchestra performances, sports competitions, art exhibitions, and the unmissable funfair, open for several days. Among the most evocative events are the evening openings of the Scaligero Castle and events in Piazza Giovanni XXIII. The fair concludes beautifully with a grand fireworks display. The event is organized by the Municipality of Villafranca di Verona.
