Summer evenings of children's and puppet theatre in Piazza Il Terreno, Corinaldo
Ambarabà is the Festival of Children's and Puppet Theatre organised by the social enterprise Teatro Giovani Teatro Pirata, a historic company in live performance for new generations based in Serra San Quirico with offices in Jesi. For almost thirty years, the festival has enlivened the summer in the province of Ancona, in the Marche region, with a travelling review that touches several municipalities in the Misa and Nevola valleys. In Corinaldo, one of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy, the shows are held in Piazza Il Terreno, a charming open-air space set in the historic centre enclosed by walls.
The heart of Ambarabà is figure theatre: traditional puppets, table marionettes, actor theatre with puppets, storytelling, fairy tales, juggling, and silent circus. Each edition features Italian companies specializing in young audiences, with a language that can speak to children without forgetting the accompanying adults. The shows are designed for preschool and school-aged children and last about an hour, in the evening format that has become a classic of Marche holidays.
In Corinaldo, the festival offers several summer evenings in Piazza Il Terreno, usually starting at 9:30 PM. It's an opportunity to experience the village during the cooler hours, between a stroll through the streets of the centre and an open-air performance. The review is part of Corinaldo's rich summer calendar, alongside other events that animate the town from June to August.
Ambarabà is not just entertainment: it is a project to promote theatre for children and to animate the small towns of the province of Ancona. The collaboration between Teatro Giovani Teatro Pirata and the participating municipalities, with the support of the regional network for live performance in the Marche, makes it possible to bring quality culture even to the smallest villages, enhancing squares and historic spaces as natural stages.
In 2026, the Ambarabà festival of Teatro Giovani Teatro Pirata returns to Corinaldo with two evening events in Piazza Il Terreno. The 2026 review takes place between June and July in several municipalities in the province of Ancona — Jesi (Teatro Moriconi), Corinaldo, Montecarotto (Piazza del Teatro), and Senigallia (Cortile Scuola Pascoli) — with shows of puppets, marionettes, and actor theatre dedicated to children.
The evenings in Corinaldo are designed for holidaying families and residents, in a charming setting like that of the medieval village. Admission is a single seat at €5, with a reduced rate for the very young and a promotion on the festival circuit.
The shows last about an hour. The schedule may be updated with further dates: it is advisable to check for updates on the organizer's website.
In Corinaldo, the two events in 2026 are Burattini all'improvviso (July 3) and Cappuccetto e il lupo (July 17), both in Piazza Il Terreno at 9:30 PM.
Ambarabà shows in Corinaldo are held in Piazza Il Terreno, in the historic centre of the village (Province of Ancona, Marche).
Evenings generally start at 9:30 PM. In case of bad weather, shows may be moved indoors or postponed: it's advisable to check official channels.
Single seat €5.00; children under 3 years €0.50. A promotion is available (2 shows + 1 free of choice on the festival circuit). Check updated prices with the organisation.
Corinaldo can be reached by car from the A14 (Senigallia exit, then SS360 inland). The nearest train station is Senigallia, from which you can continue by bus or car. The historic centre is pedestrian-only: it is advisable to park in the areas outside the walls.
