Alpini Gathering — 90th of the Caravaggio Group and 21st Bassa Bergamasca Gathering

A double anniversary for the 'penne nere'

For the Alpini Group of Caravaggio, in the province of Bergamo, it is a special year: the 90th anniversary of its founding is being celebrated. The occasion is even more significant as it coincides with the 21st Gathering of Zones 23 and 28 of the Bassa Bergamasca, which brings together Alpini from 22 municipalities in the area. Two events in one, making Caravaggio the capital of the 'penne nere' for an entire weekend.

Saturday's ceremonies

The first day is dedicated to ceremonies: the afternoon begins with official events at the Church of San Bernardino, featuring the flag-raising ceremony, a mass in suffrage for the Alpini who have passed on, and a concert. A sober and solemn program, in the spirit of remembrance and the values that have always characterized the Alpini corps.

Sunday's rally

Sunday is the day for the grand rally: from the morning, the Alpini gather at the Municipal Sports Centre, from where the parade through the city streets begins. Hats, pennants, and brass bands colour Caravaggio in a celebration that unites different generations and many communities of the Bassa Bergamasca.

A local event

The gathering is held under the patronage of the Municipality of Caravaggio and the BCC Caravaggio e Cremasco. It is an event that highlights the deep bond between the Alpini and the towns of the province of Bergamo, built on volunteerism, solidarity, and attachment to traditions, and which represents a source of pride for Caravaggio on the occasion of its Group's 90th anniversary.
