80 Voglia di Musica – La Notte della Lira

A evening that takes you back in time

La Notte della Lira, combined with the 80 Voglia di Musica review, is now one of the most anticipated events of the summer in San Benedetto del Tronto, in the province of Ascoli Piceno, in the Marche region. For one night only, the city centre and the pedestrian island transform into a huge, widespread stage, with stages, DJ sets, and entertainment scattered throughout the streets and squares. The common thread is the revival of the 80s and 90s: the fashion, the rhythms, the hit songs, and the carefree atmosphere of those years return to make thousands of people of all ages dance.

Between nostalgia and a village festival

The name of the event plays on the memory of the old lira, the Italian currency used until the arrival of the euro: an affectionate nod to an era that many recall with fondness. In addition to music, the evening offers exhibitions of vintage objects, stamps, postcards, vinyl records, coins, and banknotes in lire, guest car exhibitions, and numerous street artists. A formula that mixes the big concert with the popular dimension of a village festival, animating local commerce and giving the city a night of pure fun.

Widespread music and great guests

The pulsating heart is Piazza Giorgini, where the most anticipated guests perform, but the music spreads throughout the centre thanks to bands, orchestras, and DJ sets located in various spots. Each edition brings to the stage iconic figures from the Italian and European dance and pop scene, alongside cover bands and tribute bands that revisit the hits of the period. The artistic direction is by Claudio Marastoni for the Associazione culturale Apat (Cultural Association Apat).

An event for the whole family

La Notte della Lira is not just for music lovers: since the early afternoon/evening, an area dedicated to children is active, with workshops, face painting, and games organised by the Italian Red Cross. Admission is free and the event is open to everyone, in a festive atmosphere that involves residents and tourists of the Riviera delle Palme.
