A Po Delta running tradition
The 4 Passi per el Tajo is the emblematic running race of Taglio di Po, a municipality in the province of Rovigo nestled in the Po Delta. Started in 1978, it is one of the longest-running sporting events in Polesine and is organized by the Podisti Tagliolesi (AVIS Taglio di Po).
The races
The event offers various routes suitable for everyone: a 9 km competitive race, a 6.5 km non-competitive walk, and mini-races (600 m and 1500 m) for the younger participants. The start is from the center of Taglio di Po. The event is the 2nd stage of the "Il Gabbiano" circuit, which includes the main races in the Delta area.
Sport and territory
Beyond the competitive aspect, the 4 Passi per el Tajo is an opportunity to discover the unique landscape of the Po Delta by running or walking, through dikes, canals, and the Polesine countryside. The participation, which annually approaches 500 people between the race and the walk, makes it a sporting and community celebration that unites athletes, families, and enthusiasts.
4 Passi per el Tajo — edition 2026
The 47th edition of the 4 Passi per el Tajo was held on May 26, 2026, in Taglio di Po, the second stage of the Il Gabbiano circuit. Approximately 500 participants in total: 199 in the 9 km competitive race and over 250 in the 6.5 km non-competitive walk, plus the younger participants in the mini-races.
In the men's category, Brahim Taleb (AVIS Taglio di Po) triumphed with a time of 29'08". Among the women, Caterina Mangolini (Atletica Delta) won in 36'15", after a very close sprint finish that saw her beat Sara Bragante by just 2 seconds.

Taglio di Po is located in the Po Delta, in the province of Rovigo. The start is from the town center (Via Roma). By car from the Romea SS309. Nearest train stations: Adria / Rovigo.
