Wild fennel takes center stage at the table in the heart of the Pesaro-Urbino Montefeltro
The Wild Fennel Festival is one of the most cherished gastronomic festivals in Pergola, a town in the hilly hinterland of the province of Pesaro and Urbino, in Marche. At the heart of the event is wild fennel, an ancient and versatile aroma in Mediterranean cuisine, which here becomes the star of rustic and flavorful recipes, preserved by the region's peasant tradition.
The food stalls offer generous dishes of Marche cuisine, prepared and served for lunch and dinner. Among the most beloved dishes are:
Takeaway service is also available for those who want to bring the flavors of the festival home.
In addition to good food, the Wild Fennel Festival offers a rich program of live music, dancing evenings, and entertainment for all ages. The dedicated space for children, with games and inflatables, makes the event suitable for families. The atmosphere is that of a typical village festival, where the meeting of generations and the rediscovery of local flavors are an integral part of the experience.
The festival is organized by the Wild Fennel Festival Staff, a group of young volunteers from the Pergola community, and takes place at the Bocciodromo Park, a large green space suitable for hosting stalls and a stage for performances. The event represents an opportunity to promote the typical products and gastronomic traditions of the Municipality of Pergola, a town also known for the famous Gilded Bronzes and part of the Montefeltro circuit of art and taste territories.
Those who choose to visit Pergola during the festival will find an authentic celebration, far from mass tourism, where they can enjoy genuine specialties at popular prices and experience Marche hospitality. An ideal experience to discover a lesser-known corner of Marche, amidst hills, history, and flavors of the past.
The Wild Fennel Festival 2026 animated the Bocciodromo Park in Pergola from Thursday, June 4 to Sunday, June 7. For four evenings, the food stalls offered typical Marche dishes based on wild fennel, from tagliatelle in porchetta to beans and pork rind.
The most anticipated moment was Saturday, June 6, with the concert by the band Io e i Gomma Gommas, who from 6:00 PM until late at night brought the songs from their new album to the stage, amidst music, dancing, and lots of fun. The event, with free admission, confirmed its convivial formula curated by the young volunteers of the area.
