About Vimercate Carnival

The Vimercate Carnival is the big masked festival that enlivens the historic centre of the municipality in the province of Monza and Brianza every winter. Organized by the Pro Loco with the support of the municipal administration, it features a themed parade along the town's streets and, in parallel, the "Carnevalello" in the hamlet of Ruginello, with costumes, music, awards, and tasting of 'chiacchiere'.

The Carnival that colours Vimercate

The Vimercate Carnival is one of the most cherished events in the winter calendar of the municipality in the province of Monza and Brianza. It is organized by Pro Loco Vimercate, with the support of the municipal administration: a masked parade that each year chooses a different theme and winds through the streets and squares of the historic centre, from Piazzale Martiri Vimercatesi to the Cristo Re Youth Centre, where awards are given for the most original costumes.

Two festivals in one

Alongside the parade in the town centre, the festival is duplicated in the hamlet of Ruginello, where the association Amici di Ruginello (ADR) organizes the traditional "Carnevalello", also themed. Here, the afternoon includes a parade, music, a treasure hunt, tasting of 'chiacchiere', and awards for the costumes, in a more intimate, neighbourhood-focused setting.

A shared tradition

The Vimercate Carnival is a free, outdoor event, designed for families and children but capable of engaging the entire town. It is one of the moments when the historic centre of Vimercate, with its arcades and squares, transforms into an open-air stage.

Vimercate Carnival — edition 2026

In the town centre, the parade themed "Winter Olympics – the world tour in costume" starts at 2:30 PM from Piazzale Martiri Vimercatesi and concludes at the Cristo Re Youth Centre with awards. In Ruginello, the "Carnevalello" themed "Pirates sighted in Ruginello" enlivens the hamlet in the afternoon.

The 2026 edition of the Vimercate Carnival takes place on Saturday 21 February 2026, organized by Pro Loco Vimercate with the support of the municipal administration.
