About Wheat Festival

In the heart of Polesine, the Villamarzana Wheat Festival is one of the longest-running festivals in the province of Rovigo. For two weekends in July, the town celebrates its farming soul with an exhibition dedicated to wheat cultivation, demonstrations of threshing with vintage machinery, traditional meat and fish cuisine, and free-entry music and dancing. A community celebration organized by the Pro Loco with dozens of volunteers.

A Tradition That Tells the Story of Polesine

The Villamarzana Wheat Festival, a small municipality in the province of Rovigo nestled in the Polesine countryside, is much more than a festival: it's a living narrative of the deep connection between this territory and the land. Defined by the organizers as "one of the longest-running festivals in Polesine," it transforms the town each year into a grand celebration centered around the symbol that gives it its name: wheat.

Threshing and Rural Culture

The core identity of the event is the exhibition dedicated to local cultivation, with demonstrations of traditional threshing that bring back to life the gestures, tools, and machinery of the past. It's an opportunity for families and young people to discover how the land was worked in Polesine, in a journey that combines memory and entertainment.

Cuisine and Dancing

The large food stand offers traditional meat and fish cuisine, with local dishes such as cured pork products, polenta, and "fasoi in potacin" (stewed beans), a well-stocked bar, various exhibitors, evening shows, and a free-entry dance floor. There's also a charity raffle and a market.

A Community Celebration

Organized by the Pro Loco Villamarzana with the support of the Municipality and dozens of volunteers, the Wheat Festival is an eagerly awaited event for all of Polesine. It traditionally takes place on the first and second weekends of July and renews the sense of belonging to a rural community proud of its roots with each edition.

Wheat Festival — edition 2026

The 36th edition of the Villamarzana Wheat Festival is expected on the first and second weekends of July 2026. The Pro Loco renews the exhibition on wheat cultivation, the food stand with meat and fish cuisine, the evening dancing events, and shows, awaiting the detailed program.

The 2026 edition of the Villamarzana Wheat Festival will continue the long tradition of the festival, organized as always by the Pro Loco on the first and second weekends of July. The tried-and-tested formula is confirmed: an exhibition on wheat cultivation, threshing demonstrations, a large food stand with meat and fish dishes, a bar, exhibitors, a charity raffle, musical evenings, and a free-entry dance floor.

The exact dates and the evening-by-evening program will be published by Pro Loco Villamarzana on their channels in the weeks preceding the event.
