A Night Parade in the Heart of the City
The Villafranca di Verona Carnival is one of the most anticipated carnival events in the province of Verona. Its distinctive feature is the evening parade: allegorical floats and masked groups cross the historic center at nightfall, illuminated and accompanied by music, creating a spectacular effect that draws a very large crowd along Corso Vittorio Emanuele II and the surrounding streets.
Floats from Verona and Mantua
The event, promoted by the Circolo dei Folli in collaboration with the Municipality of Villafranca di Verona, brings together dozens of masked groups and about fifteen floats from the Veronese territory and the nearby Mantuan area. The route winds through Via Messedaglia, Via Cantore, and the main corso, at the foot of the Scaligero Castle, the city's symbol.
A Celebration for the Entire Community
Alongside the parade, the Villafranca Carnival offers activities for children and the traditional distribution of gnocchi, the symbolic dish of the Veronese Carnival, prepared by local volunteers. A celebration that, with masks, floats, and gastronomy, enlivens the town in the plain southwest of Verona and strengthens its community identity.
Villafranca Carnival — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of the Villafranca di Verona Carnival took place on Saturday, February 28, after being postponed from February 14 due to bad weather. The evening parade, promoted by Circolo dei Folli with the Municipality, started at 7:30 PM from Via Messedaglia, winding through Via Cantore and Corso Vittorio Emanuele II. On the streets were nearly 30 masked groups, about a thousand participants, and 15 allegorical floats from the Veronese and Mantuan areas, watched by over three thousand spectators. Volunteers from the Gruppo il Sasso di Rosegaferro served gnocchi in a heated tent.

- 7:30 PM — start of the night parade from Via Messedaglia, along Via Cantore and Corso Vittorio Emanuele II.
- Approximately 30 masked groups and 15 allegorical floats from the Veronese and Mantuan areas.
- Distribution of gnocchi by Gruppo il Sasso di Rosegaferro in a heated tent.
- The parade continued until almost midnight.

How to Get There
Villafranca di Verona is about 15 km from Verona. By car: A4 (Sommacampagna exit) or A22 Brennero. The Villafranca train station, on the Verona–Mantua line, is close to the center. Traffic diversions are planned in the historic center during the parade.
